This cozy spot, located at 109 Goodwood Rd, invites diners to immerse themselves in a vibrant atmosphere accentuated by vintage furnishings and eclectic artwork, creating an ideal backdrop for both lively brunches and relaxed lunches.
Gingers’ cuisine showcases a thoughtful balance of hearty and refined flavors, perfect for those who appreciate comforting dishes with a creative edge. Their breakfast offerings, such as the Breakfast Burger layered with a fried egg, crispy bacon, provolone cheese, fresh lettuce, and creamy aioli, deliver a satisfying fusion of textures and tastes with each bite. For plant-based diners, the Zucchini & Sweetcorn Fritter served alongside beetroot hummus and tzatziki offers a fresh, vibrant start to the day, while the Mushroom Ragu serves as a standout — a rich, aromatic medley of porcini, enoki, and king brown mushrooms enlivened by black truffle salsa and a hint of thyme, elegantly perched on toasted ciabatta. Food enthusiasts rave about this dish, with one guest calling it "too damn good, simple and delicious."
The burger selection is robust and flavorful, featuring options like the classic Cheeseburger, the vegan-friendly and satisfying Mushroom Burger with roasted swiss mushroom, avocado, provolone cheese, and rocket, and the signature Gingers Burger boasting a juicy 180g beef patty paired with smoky bacon, onion jam, and their special sauce. Each burger is served alongside crispy fries, a perfect complement that rounds out the meal perfectly.
Dessert lovers are also well catered for, with indulgent items such as the Gingers Affogato marrying vanilla bean ice cream with Colombian espresso and a hint of liqueur—a luxe finish to any meal. Alternatively, the Strawberry Waffles and the luscious Chocolate Truffle Cake with mixed berry compote offer a sweet farewell that delights the palate and keeps guests coming back for more.
What truly elevates the dining experience at Gingers Vintage Lounge Bar is not just the food, but the warm, attentive service combined with an inviting, buzzing atmosphere. From the cheerful greetings near closing time to the knowledgeable staff and owner Arthur’s dedication to quality, this local gem exudes genuine hospitality and community spirit. Customers frequently remark on the bar’s retro charm and cozy yet lively vibe, making it a perfect spot for everything from casual breakfasts to festive gatherings.
While the cafe shines in many areas, some patrons noted a desire for a more diverse range of vegan options beyond the mushroom-based dishes, indicating potential for future menu innovations. Nonetheless, Gingers consistently delivers flavorful dishes coupled with a friendly ambience that fosters a loyal following.
In all, Gingers Vintage Lounge Bar is a delightful destination for anyone craving well-crafted comfort food in a setting that effortlessly mixes nostalgia with culinary finesse. Whether you're dropping in for a standout mushroom ragu or settling in with friends over a decadent affogato, this Goodwood treasure promises a memorable dining experience infused with warmth and flavor.

What a fantastic spot! I’m not sure if it’s the great coffee, the homemade hollandaise sauce, great service, retro furniture, or buzz of other diners but we had a great time on Saturday morning at brunch. The mushroom ragu was too damn good - simple and delicious

Close to closing time but was still greeted with such warmth. Food was fantastic, beyond expectations. Service was fast. Place was clean and had an eclectic feel. The artwork on display was a nice touch to allow the gaze to wander off into.

We recently visited this local cafe for breakfast, and overall, it was a pleasant experience, though there were a few aspects that could be improved. The cafe has a charming retro vibe, creating a cozy yet lively atmosphere. The tables are well-spaced, which is a nice touch—it's comfortable and gives you a sense of privacy without feeling crowded. The food was enjoyable. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly—flavorful and tender—and the poached eggs were spot-on, with beautifully runny yolks. The spinach was fresh, and the haloumi was crispy and nicely fried, adding a savory touch to the dish. However, I found the fritters to be a bit disappointing. They were quite oily and lacked the flavor I had hoped for, which was a shame given the quality of the other items on the menu. My husband also felt his dish was too oily. The coffee was good—smooth and well-balanced—as a takeaway, the coffee is a decent option. Service was attentive and friendly, table service- we were given our coffees and food reasonably quickly. One thing worth noting is that the menu items are on the pricier side. While the portions are decent, I did feel that the overall value could be improved, especially given that some of the dishes didn’t quite meet expectations. In the end, we’d give this cafe 4 out of 5 stars. It's a lovely spot with great atmosphere and some tasty dishes, but there’s room for improvement in both the menu and pricing. I’d still be happy to return, but I think there’s potential for a more polished experience. Take away coffee is a solid option.

Very lovely vibe and superb coffee, but the vegan options are a little lackluster. Nothing against the lovely team here at Ginger's, these workers clearly work hard to maintain this old bar. But I would love to see an updated menu with a wider range of plant-based alternatives that aren't just extra mushrooms or extra beans

Small menu that packs a punch of flavour across every dish, side dish and dessert. Have not had a bad meal and I have been here countless times. The staff are very friendly and happy to be here and nothing is too hard. A relaxed vibrant atmosphere with exceptional acts and a great mix of people. Arthur the owner goes out of his way to welcome everyone and is hot on quality control. Search their website book a show and dinner, you won’t regret it. It will become your near regular

My friend and I dined in for our Christmas brunch for our 1st visit today. I love the vintage quirky furniture and feel. We both enjoyed our meal. Staff very friendly. Wish something like this up south. Thank you, Merry Christmas.

Busy local cafe. I’ve had two lunches here and was well satisfied with the meals. I came here with a small group ( with a colleague who raves about the beef ragu) and the service was accomodating and great during busy lunch periods. Coffee was ok, but too diluted in the take away size for my liking.
